Celebrate food without celebrating with food

When we talk about food being nourishment to our bodies and that food isn’t a means of celebration, we mean that. However, there truly are ways to celebrate food without using the actual food as a celebratory tool.

What?

Take a moment to think on that. Celebrating something with food is to make a celebration centered on food. Christmas parties, BBQ’s and holiday dinners as well as baked treats being the thing that holds the festivities together. Removing that one piece would crumble the whole thing. That is what it means to use food as the celebration tool.

Now, consider celebrating food. You and your family put a list of foods together and you convene in the kitchen to wash, prepare and assemble the salad and dishes you’ve all agreed on. You discuss the nutritive powers of each food and teach your children about each plant and its properties. You are present with your family in regards to the food and not present to the food in relation to your family.

The meal is ready and you sit down together and enjoy each other and the foods you have assembled. You may discuss the flavors of each component or the textures and colors. All of this is a celebration of each living plant that was prepared.

The celebration is centered on discovery, learning, nourishing and feeding your bodies and, yes, about the salad, soup or dish that was mindfully prepared.

It has been intentional and if the food was swapped out or removed completely, the fellowship and spirit would remain.

That’s the difference.

Celebrate the amazingness of the foods that are feeding your commitment to a 100 year body.

That’s it. It’s just that simple.
